A.S.C.O.R. – Iași was established on December 17, 1990, on the initiative of a group of students from “Al. I. Cuza” University and the Agronomic University in Iași, with the support and blessing of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, at the time Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina, who is the honorary president of A.S.C.O.R. Iași.

Currently, A.S.C.O.R. – Iași operates with the blessing of His Eminence Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina.

Carried Out Projects

The campaign “Together we build a house” (“Împreună ridicăm o casă”), through which we have managed to build 3 houses so far: in Țibănești Commune, Iași County, in Călărași Commune, Botoșani County, and in Vlădeni Commune, Iași County. Through this campaign, we offer our volunteers the opportunity to volunteer according to their field of specialization—for example, architecture volunteers design the houses, technical volunteers handle the field work, and law volunteers handle paperwork. Besides the fact that each volunteer applies what they learn in college through this campaign, we primarily help needy families.

The Metanoia Project takes place within the Maximum Security Penitentiary – Iași. It aims at the spiritual and social reintegration of inmates by raising awareness of moral life. To this end, discussion circles on certain social-moral topics, prayer rope and lithography workshops, as well as foreign language courses are organized.

The International Meeting of Orthodox Youth (ITO Iași 2017), organized by the Archdiocese of Iași and ASCOR – Iași Branch; an event that gathered 7,000 young Orthodox Christians from 34 countries in Iași, between September 1-4, 2017.
