Overview

Chemistry is in everything. Everything that surrounds us is based on chemical processes and transformations. The study of chemistry involves understanding the nature of things and the evolution of the processes in which they are involved. The development of any society is based on knowledge, the study of processes and transformations, including those of a chemical nature.

To achieve all this, highly qualified specialists in the field are needed. The Faculty of Chemistry, through the study programs it offers, trains specialists in all fields involving chemistry and keeps pace with the rapid evolution of society in terms of knowledge and development. The study of chemistry became a necessity as early as 1878, when the scientist Petru Poni established the Department of Chemistry within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. After a winding history, the Faculty of Chemistry functions independently within UAIC, with its return dating from 1990.

The faculty’s teaching staff is exceptionally well-prepared, an aspect reflected by participations in numerous research internships and projects in Romania and abroad. The faculty has partnerships and collaborations with all profile faculties in the country, with research institutes, production units in the field, as well as with many prestigious universities abroad.

Collaboration with other universities abroad is one of the faculty’s strengths. Agreements concluded with prestigious universities such as those in France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Hungary, and Austria offer students, doctoral candidates, and teaching staff the opportunity to undertake study and research internships at these universities.

Graduates of the Faculty of Chemistry are well-prepared and can be found in many institutions, research centers, high schools, schools, and universities in the country and abroad. Upon graduation, alumni have the opportunity to work in multiple fields, among the most sought-after positions being: chemists in research institutes, chemists in analysis laboratories (medical, environmental, pharmaceutical), chemists in pharmaceutical or chemical product factories, teaching staff, and product and equipment promoters in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical fields.

The faculty continues to maintain contact with graduates after the completion of their studies by organizing symposia, scientific events, competitions, round tables, and conferences.
