Overview
The beginning of university psychology education in Iași dates prior to the establishment of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. Psychology figured among the philosophical disciplines taught at the Mihăileană Academy and the Socola Seminary.Unanimously appreciated for its school of social psychology, orientation towards the clinical field and psychotherapy, and promotion of educational research, the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences provides a material research base with numerous specialized laboratories and instruments.
Additionally, in recent years, a series of research projects on topics such as personality psychology, the psychology of attitudes, the psychology of behaviors relevant to driving, the psychology of moral judgments, the psychology of school performance, and the psycho-educational assistance of students with socio-material difficulties and those with disabilities have been implemented within the faculty.
Within the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, two research centers operate – one in Psychology and one in the field of Education Sciences – in whose activities teaching staff, doctoral students, and master’s students of the faculty participate. The first center includes several research laboratories, namely: the Hypnosis, Emotion & Cognition Lab, the Traffic Participant Psychology Laboratory, the Risk, Resilience and Social Contexts Laboratory, the Clinical Human Sciences Laboratory, the Motivation, Self & Well-being Laboratory, the Well-being, Stress and Resilience Laboratory, and the “Adrian Neculau” Social Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies Laboratory. The second center includes the Historical and Philosophical Perspectives in Education Laboratory, the Learning, Training and Professional Development Laboratory, the Talent Management Laboratory, the Fundamental and Applied Research in Special Education Laboratory, the Policies and Management in Education Laboratory, the Didactics and Early Childhood Education Laboratory, the Interculturality, Migration and Education Laboratory, and the Education and Technology Laboratory.
Partnerships concluded with traditional faculties in Europe offer both students and teaching staff the opportunity to leave with study and performance scholarships through Erasmus+ programs in countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc.
The faculty’s graduates will be able to become specialists in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, educational psychology, or work and services psychology, or psychological counselors in various companies. They can also work in the field of education sciences as teachers, psycho-pedagogue teachers (counselors), speech therapists, special education teachers, and preschool and primary education teachers.
The Pedagogy and Psychology Library is located in building D of the University, ground floor, 3 Toma Cozma St., 700554, Iași, Phone: +40 232 20 1127.
