Overview

The Association of Physics Students (ASFIZ-UAIC), created within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, has as its main purpose supporting students passionate about physics. Through this association, members as well as faculty students benefit from access to both academic and professional projects and opportunities.

Additionally, the association promotes interaction between students and graduates of the Faculty of Physics, thereby facilitating networking and the exchange of experience. The activities organized by the association, such as conferences and cultural events, contribute to skill development and the formation of a strong community of young physicists.

Another important objective is the promotion of scientific research. It encourages its members to participate in experiments and research projects, thus contributing to their development as physicists and to the advancement of knowledge in the field of physics.

The association also offers support in developing non-academic skills, such as leadership and communication. These competencies are essential in the career of every physicist and are cultivated through personal development programs offered to the association’s members.

Registration Period

Students of the Faculty of Physics can register throughout the entire academic year.

Objectives

• Facilitating academic development: We aim to provide resources and opportunities for members and students to develop their knowledge and skills in the field of physics by organizing seminars, conferences, and educational activities.
• Promoting scientific research: The association encourages its members to participate in research projects and experiments to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of physics.
• Developing non-academic skills: We offer programs and resources to help our members develop their leadership, communication, and time management skills.
• Creating a solid community: We promote interaction between students, graduates, and teaching staff, thereby favoring the exchange of experience and networking in the field of physics.
• Encouraging the passion for physics.

Projects

• PFF (Pentagon of Physics Faculties / Pentagonul Facultăților de Fizică) – this is a conference we participate in, and once every 5 years we host it in Iași. Physics students from 5 Physics faculties across the country gather here and for 3 days they visit the city, participate in events created for them, and at the end attend the conference where everyone presents their projects or conducted experiments.
• Researchers’ Night (Noaptea Cercetătorilor) – an event carried out in collaboration with other associations, in the Palas Mall garden, where we present various experiments to the public of all ages.

Social Activities

• Trainings (e.g., “Public Speaking”)
• Halloween Party
• Freshmen Ball (Balul Bobocilor) – organized independently or in partnership with another association to facilitate interaction among university students and their development in multiple fields.
• Christmas Carols (Colinde de Crăciun) – a traditional activity at the Faculty of Physics.
• Movie Night – students and professors gather once a month to watch and later discuss a pre-selected film.
• Events created with the purpose of developing students’ curiosity (e.g., “Visit to the Planetarium”).
• Encouraging students to participate in events created by other associations (e.g., “Students Plant / Studenții plantează”).
