Overview
The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEAA) within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași is one of the most dynamic faculties in terms of educational programs, number of students, professional development of teaching staff, and modernization of educational spaces. Although the faculty appeared in the structure of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași in 1962, the tradition of higher economic education began in Iași in 1843, with the first political economy course delivered by Ion Ghica at the Mihăileană Academy. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, through its ten bachelor’s university study programs, full-time and distance learning, provides good opportunities to accumulate knowledge and skills for an important number of professions in the fields of economics, business administration, and public administration. Additionally, the faculty offers a considerable number of professional master’s programs, both for full-time and part-time learning, as well as doctoral university studies in the field of economics and business administration.
As a result of the performances achieved in the academic process, the faculty gives value to the university diploma on the labor market. Under the conditions of transformations taking place in society and the economy, the diplomas of graduates in economic university studies from the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, have a particularly good reputation on the labor market. The knowledge society, the digital economy, and globalization grant a privileged position to economists, a position supported by the latest statistical analyses at the level of European Union countries.
Student associations—the League of Economics Students, AIESEC, ASCONT, CEAI—bring an extra vitality to student life, organizing events, scientific, educational, and cultural projects, offering students a sense of belonging to a global learning environment, international experience, and leadership opportunities.
In recent years, FEAA has recorded major quantitative and qualitative changes, gaining a solid reputation in higher economic education in Romania. Furthermore, concerns regarding the internationalization of economic education have been intensified. The faculty features a bachelor’s university study program in English (Business Administration) and three master’s university study programs in English (Finance and Risk Management, Software Development and Business Information Systems, Strategic Human Resource Management in Europe), while a growing number of students participate in Erasmus+ mobility programs.
In the upcoming period, the faculty management aims to ensure the continuity of development as well as the enhancement of change, in accordance with the demands of 21st-century developments based on the knowledge society, sustainability, and integration into global knowledge and education flows. The faculty’s objective is to consolidate its status acquired in the educational process and ensure the evolution toward achieving excellence in education and research in the fields of Economic Sciences and Business Administration.
The Library of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
The FEAA Library was established in 2002 when the institution celebrated 40 years. Although the Economic Sciences Branch has existed since 1964 within the “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library of Iași, due to the Faculty’s development and modernization, it became necessary to establish its own library. The FEAA Library is a cultural-scientific structure of public law without legal personality, an integral part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. It participates in the instructional-educational and research process carried out by the Faculty, based on current legislation and in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University.
The document collections comprise approximately 30,000 volumes (books and specialized periodicals in Romanian, English, French, German); additionally, it benefits from a series of scientific databases subscribed at the level of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University through the ANELIS PLUS Program.
The library specializes in the economic field, but considering the numerous related disciplines connected to it, it also holds publications in the socio-political, history, and geography fields, as well as a collection of reference works (encyclopedias, dictionaries, monographs, legislation).
Logistics include a computer network (100 PC stations ensuring access to the Internet and the FEAA Portal); copiers and printers at users’ disposal; a video surveillance system; an electronic anti-theft system for each volume.
The FEAA Library is located at 22A Carol I Blvd., Building B of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, 1st floor, room B 401, right in the heart of the Faculty. It is organized in an open-shelf access system and features a reading room with 240 seats.
Thanks to its collections, location, logistical equipment, and staff, the FEAA Library has become one of the most important documentation sources for economics students and beyond.
