DECISIONS OF THE EXTRAORDINARY SENATE OF THE „ALEXANDRU IOAN CUZA” UNIVERSITY OF IAȘI OF MARCH 21, 2020 pursuant to Article 8, para. (9) of the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the University Senate, via the electronic voting procedure

  1. Decision regarding the memorial with the five related annexes, registered under no. 4743/16.03.2020, submitted by Assoc. Prof. Adrian MURARU, PhD, through which he requested the Senate to analyze and respond regarding “the irregularities of the election process of the UAIC rector, 2020–2024 term”. The Senate of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași adopted, on March 21, 2020, through the electronic voting procedure provided in Art. 8 para. (9) of the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the University Senate, the following resolution:
The Senate Plenary noted, relative to the provisions of Art. 40 of the Methodology for organizing elections for academic management structures and positions at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, for the 2020–2024 term, according to which, quote: “Any contestation regarding the conduct of elections shall be submitted to the UAIC Registry (to the attention of BEC-UAIC) within a maximum of 24 hours from the event that generated the contestation or from the date when it was brought to knowledge/made public and can target only procedural aspects”, that the University Senate is not competent to analyze and respond to the aspects signaled by Assoc. Prof. Adrian MURARU, PhD, the competence of resolution belonging to the Contestations Commission at the level of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, for the elections of academic management structures and functions, 2020–2024 term, sense in which the memorial registered under no. 4743/16.03.2020 shall be directed towards it for resolution.
  1. Decision regarding the validation of the election of Prof. Tudorel TOADER, PhD, to the position of Rector of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași for the 2020–2024 term, based on the election results of March 11, 2020, submitted by the Central Electoral Bureau of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, relative to the provisions of the Methodology for organizing elections for academic management structures and positions within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, for the 2020–2024 term.
  1. Decision regarding the validation of the election of the Presidents of the permanent specialized commissions of the University Senate, according to the provisions of Art. 12 para. (8) of the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the University Senate, as follows:
  • Prof. Liviu George Maha, PhD, Habil., President of the Commission for bachelor’s programs and training activities for teaching staff in pre-university education;
  • Prof. Dorina Lăcrămioara Petrescu, PhD, President of the Commission for master’s programs and doctoral studies;
  • Senior Res. II Sorin Tașcu, PhD, President of the Commission for scientific research programs and knowledge transfer;
  • Assoc. Prof. Ioana Maria Costea, PhD, President of the Commission for strategy, institutional development, and quality management;
  • Prof. Cristian Enăchescu, PhD, Habil., President for international relations and study and research partnerships;
  • Prof. Daniela Tatiana Agheorghiesei, PhD, Habil., President of the Commission for student activities and partnerships with the economic environment and the public sector.
  1. Decision regarding the approval of modifying the Minimal Standards necessary for filling teaching and research positions of assistant / research assistant, lecturer / scientific researcher (permanent and temporary) for the Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences, from the Competition Methodologies for filling teaching and research positions of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași.
  1. Decision regarding the approval of maintaining the tenured status in university education until the end of the 2019–2020 academic year for the following teaching staff who will reach the legal retirement age during the current academic year:
  • Prof. Elena Bîcu, PhD, Faculty of Chemistry;
  • Assoc. Prof. Valeriu Emil Gherghel, PhD, Faculty of Philosophy and Social-Political Sciences;
  • Prof. Eugen Rusu, PhD, Faculty of Geography and Geology;
  • Prof. Dorin Popa, PhD, Faculty of Letters.
  1. Decision regarding the validation of the election of student representatives in the Executive Board of the Board of Administration, the Senate Bureau, the Ethics Commission, and the Quality Management Commission, as follows:
  • Alexandra Maria Chiper – student representative in the Executive Board of the Board of Administration;
  • Bianca Pavel – student representative in the Senate Bureau;
  • Alexandra Săvucă – member of the Ethics Commission;
  • Iustin Gheorghe Jalaboi – student representative in the Quality Management Commission.
  1. Decision regarding the approval of revising Art. 8 of the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the University Senate (ROFS), by introducing a new paragraph, para. (91), which shall read as follows:
Art. 8 para. (91) By exception from the provisions of para. 9, in situations of force majeure, the ordinary or extraordinary meetings of the Senate can be held via the audio/video teleconferencing system.

The Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of the University Senate adopted on May 24, 2012, and revised in the meetings of the UAIC Senate on 27.07.2017, 31.10.2019, 27.02.2020, and 21.03.2020 respectively, is annexed to these decisions.
  1. Decision regarding the granting of the right to conduct teaching activities at the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Iași to Lect. Sorina Chiper, PhD, from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, in the second semester of the 2019–2020 academic year.
  1. Decision regarding the granting of the right to conduct teaching activities at the “Ion Ionescu de la Brad” University of Life Sciences of Iași, Faculty of Horticulture, to Lect. Mirela Goanță, PhD, from the Faculty of Chemistry, in the second semester of the 2019–2020 academic year.
  1. Decision regarding the approval of affiliation as a PhD supervisor of Assoc. Prof. Ioana Alexandra Horodnic, PhD, to the Doctoral School of Economics and Business Administration, in the doctoral university study field of Marketing.
