Overview

The European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) is an international, independent, apolitical, and non-profit organization run by students and for students, which contributes to the formation of a well-prepared generation of lawyers capable of approaching complex legal issues in an international context. ELSA is a community formed not only of approximately 200 students from Iași, but also of members from 41 countries across Europe, totaling approximately 60,000 people.

ELSA has managed to build a true family which, through its activities and its role on the international scene, has achieved its purpose of contributing to legal education, stimulating mutual understanding, and promoting social responsibility.

ELSA’s main objective is to prepare law students and young lawyers for professional life by creating opportunities to acquire knowledge about other cultures and legal systems, in the spirit of critical dialogue and scientific collaboration. At the same time, ELSA encourages them to be open to the international environment and to act for the general benefit of society.

ELSA Iași guides Iași students toward an international perspective and helps them take their volunteering experience to another level. The number of members in this Local Group grows from year to year, and alumni stay close to ELSA due to the academic, legal, and social impact this Association has on their entire student journey.

The diversity of activities carried out within the Association is possible thanks to its internal structure, organized into key and support areas. Thus, ELSA Iași is composed of 6 areas: Academic Activities (AA), Competitions (C), Seminars & Conferences (S&C), Professional Development (PD), Marketing (MKT), and Human Resources (HR).

Human Resources

The department focuses on achieving internal cohesion and promoting the ELSA spirit within the organization. Its specific activities are: recruiting new members, training them, orientation, counseling, and motivating members.

Marketing

Through its activities, the Marketing Department ensures the promotion of ELSA projects, programs, and actions. It also ensures correspondence between the ELSA identity and how it is perceived externally. It presents two components: advertising and public relations. The main duties are: ensuring good and efficient communication among ELSA members worldwide; popularizing ELSA events via the internet; ensuring the logistics of ELSA events; facilitating the obtaining of necessary information in carrying out projects; electronic archiving of all projects.

Registrations

Enrollments take place semiannually, in October and March respectively. Only students of the Faculty of Law can register.
